  • It is a car that you cannot really lead, but the auction RM expects that a 1939 Pontiac with a Plexiglas body will go for anywhere between $ 275,000 to $ 475,000 auction of Saint-Jean which takes place in the competition of elegance for America in Plymouth, MI July. The Pontiac was built for the 1939 - 1940 New York at the universal exposition and appears in the room of "futurama" of General Motors presented how the immediate world war imagination adhered photo 1960.

Transparent cars were not part of the prediction, but a difficult new transparent material that could be moulded in such a complex form was certainly something worth showing off the coast. The Pontiac was created by Rohm & Haas, inventor of the Plexiglas, to show his new revolutionary material, and this particular car is the only one of both of these vehicles was known to survive.

This Poncho is restored, so there are some visible damage accumulated over the years, but this impressive artifact is the first car made life-size transparency and merit and therefore a place of importance in the collection... or the room of a person. In any event, it will be a conversation piece. [Source: Hemmings |] [Images: RM auction] filed under: Classics, auctions, Etc., Pontiac
