The covers are off the coast of the 2012 Mercedes M class and as we reported earlier it is hardly revolutionary. But Mercedes designers have done a job very good scalpel to make the SUV subtle and elegant look. This is certainly a progressive design where they have left.
The front fascia obtain a major uplift to make the look seen as a gentle giant. The daytime LED (now become a standard on most German cars) and a Chiseled, closely in the form of front fairing give an aggressive look. Nothing significant has changed in the car, except that they have vastly improved space seats.
The new class m will be powered by either
• 3.5 l petrol V6 302 horses
• OR a reworked 3-0-litre turbo-diesel V-6 generating 240 horses
The two will get a 7-speed automatic transmission and a host of features such as smart pumps oil and water and compressor cooling to save fuel. Fuel economy indicative for diesel is 9.78 Kmpl
Being an SUV, it will have a package with six superb off-road modes (automatic, Offroad 1, 2 Offroad, winter, Sport and trailer). It has a ground clearance of 11.2 inches and deep fording 23.6 inches. It has a system Airmatic air suspension, a stage of two cases of transfer and plates to protect the underbody skid.
The SUV boasts also a host of security features such as:
• Nine airbags including a kneebag for the driver and the sidebags rear line
• Systems Assist and Pre Safe attention
• Keep Lane and blind spot assist features
• Regulator Distronic.
• Night vision system
This new class m will begin in India? Yes, without a doubt!
But at the moment, it is too early to speculate on the month of launch.
