  • Mazda has confirmed that the Freestyle Cab of its new BT-50 will utility version its world debut at the next Australian International Motor Show to be held in Melbourne on 1 - 10 July.

Using the revolutionary Freestyle door configuration for the first time on the RX-8, the BT-50 Freestyle cab offers a unique combination of seats for the four, a door opening unusually wide pillar-less and high load capacity.

Each side of the cabin, a hinged front door and access back panel combine to provide a 1, 408 mm of width of opening that makes entry easy and exit of front seats or rear.

Rear comfort was taken to levels never seen before in the cab of Freestyle. Cushions were stretched by 50 mm to better support the thigh and mounting more stable seats for children, while the seat height was increased from 128 mm.

Rear seat cushion can be removed and with an access panel back according to an angle of 90 degrees of initiation, the option of loading and storage of cargo in the back area of the CAB has never been easier.

Another advantage of the new cab of Freestyle BT-50 is its vast capacity. The bath of freight has increased in width, length and height resulting in a volume of freight global 1,453 litres. This is an increase of 266 litres on equivalent current model.

Mazda Australia Doug Dickson, Director General, points to the importance of this world debut. "Just as we were delighted to be given the privilege of hosting the world debut of the all-new double cabin BT-50 in Sydney last year, we are also pleased to host this year's first overall Freestyle Melbourne cabin." With the Australia should be the largest market for the new BT-50, it is no coincidence that we have been asked to host not one but two global openings of this important new model. "It is appropriate that the Australian public see it first".

The all-new Mazda BT-50 is put on sale later this year.
