  • Since the Mercedes India made the announcement that he is testing the feasibility of a and b, articles fly around on the possible beginnings of the BMW 1 series. Today, the Audi India has officially gone on son and said that they too are eying the Uber Premium market hatchback in India.

Anil Reddi, Head (sales), Audi India-

There is definitely a huge market in India for these cars (compact). We are evaluating various options (to take advantage of this segment). Important issues are what car, at what price and the target segment. Our customers in India are very demanding and you later want

Obviously, when I say Uber premium hatchbacks, I speak of the segment of Honda Jazz. I speak of a hatchback that would be you any where-12-20 lakh rupees. That said, there is a midshipman in the segment - Fiat 500. It costs lakh about 15 and sells a unit every 3-4 months.

Then there's the Ladybird which costs more 20 lakh rupees and surprisingly more than baby Fiat sells. For the same amount of money, you would get some variant of the superb Skoda, which is more powerful, better for driving a car much better than the other two contenders, spacious and comfortable and comprehensive.

Obviously, the most important reason why it would be to go to an expensive tailgate is of to be noted. Therefore, most of the beetles and 500 francs are purchased by celebrities, models, rich businessmen and these other celebrities.

Dr. Andreas Schaaf, BMW India ' CEO of the IAB on what he thinks on this segment of the market.

The market is not yet ready for these cars. In India, people still associate with the size of the car price. More the car, the greater must be the price. The Mini and the 1 series are exactly the opposite of this philosophy. They are small cars with the higher price tag. But when the market conditions are good, BMW will certainly lead the way.

And yes it makes sense. We equate price with the size of the car. That is why we are willing to pay more for the Swift Dzire, rather than the Swift of 1-2 life, both essentially being the same car. The sedan has just slightly more metal in the back to carry your luggage. Is it metal worth 1-2 lakh rupees more? I doubt.

Of course, none of these Uber Premium hatchbacks will be produced general public India. They will be imported as a unit CBU which means that you pay easily twice the actual price of the car.

Then are you willing to bomb two times the price of the car just to get noticed?
